A complaint is a gift

I'm posting this here because  I assume that Sony monitor the site for marketing purposes.

I am a fan of Sony products and have own several which I am happy with.

I recently bought the Xperia X10iii to replace my Xperia XZ and it has not been a happy transition. Both of the Sony apps that I used to transfer information, apps and data between phones failed and I ended up doing laborious manual transfers by moving sim cards and sd cards between phones, transferring data to Google and redownloading etc. It has taken hours.

Now that the phone is up and running, I notice that the camera, despite its multiple lenses is inferior to the XZ in many ways - in terms of shutter lag, ability to focus in low light, ability to focus quickly, deployment of flash in automatic mode. It means that I will have to lug round my digital SLR camera if I want to take decent pictures in future.

A further gripe is the glass back to the unit which makes it slippery to handle and prone to dancing off surfaces when vibrating. I'm also concerned that the back will break - my XZ suffered a few dents in the metal case but kept on going. My first Sony phone slid half a mile down an Italian glacier, lay in the snow for 5 hours and lived to text another day. I don't think that the 10 iii will be as robust.

In conclusion, Sony, can I suggest that you stop copying other manufacturers like Apple and market phones at specific lifestyles. Not all phones are purchased by mediaheads in their 20s. What about a phone specifically for outdoor sports enthusiasts which is tough as well as waterproof, but with a facility to boost screen brightness for use in the sun. A non slippery back would be good. The option for extra large icons would help operation in rain, snow, low light etc. A lanyard attachment would help. A camera that can range find in a cave would be cool too. Oh and it needs not to cost £1000, so If I do drop it off a mountain, SUV roof rack, dive boat, paddle board or canoe I won't be bankrupted by the replacement.

Cheers

Hey there,

Hopefully someone notices your post about the product, and all of that gets addressed in a future update.
But honestly, when it comes to transferring files it depends on a lot of factors where we don't really know if the new phone or something else.
Also, yea the camera quality might not be the best coming out with the factory settings, but you could make better if you play with the settings here and there.
But yes, the phone is slippery, but you can always use a case for it to protect as well.

Cheers.
