I have recently purchased a Sony DSC-HX9/HX9V camera and, as a very amateur photographer with little technical knowledge, I am experiencing severe red-eye especially when taking photographs of my grand-children. I do not know if the camera has a red-eye reduction built in and if so how to use it, and would appreciate any help you can give me to correct this problem.
Many thanks

Hi Eveepee and welcome.
Any camera where the flash is close to the lens can show this problem.
1. You can reduce the effect by setting "Red-Eye Reduction" to ON. Turn on and press MENU -> SETTINGS -> Shooting Settings -> Red Eye Reduction = ON.
2. You can also correct the effect on pictures you have already taken in the camera in the Viewing Menu. In Playback press MENU -> Viewing Settings -> Retouch -> Red Eye Correction.
3. You can also correct the effect on existing images on a computer using the supplied software 'Picture Motion Browser'

Good Luck with your new camera. Come back anytime if you have any questions.

Thank you Blencogo for taking the time to reply and give me some good tips for the problem I have. I shall try them all and hopefully have more success with my photos in the future. Kind regards, Eveepee
For all I know, most Sony Cameras have red-eye reduction feature. Thanks to that.
