Need an idiots guide to setting up A68 Can't get to grips with manual. First prob. have a flashing hand in screen on any other than AUTO

Thank you. Have started playing with it and am begining to see things. my initial problem was the flashing hand on all but AUTO. Have now found out that the camera doesn't respond to low light as well as my A200 did.
