i have a new Nex-5 and am delighted however how can i turn off the quite loud shutter sound

Unfortunately you will not be able to change the volume of the shutter as this is an actual mechanical sound..

many thanks for that response - yes it was a bit cluncky to be an electronic sound, so that is that

a pity as i like to take relxed and natural shots and the clunck is a bit of a giveaway

Using timelapse application, even even turned off in general menu, there is still on/off Silent Shooting ON in applicatiion setting-p5. This is great, WELL DONE SONY.
