Hi Gareth,

Sorry, it doesn't sound a simple fix.

Perhaps it is worth having a word with Sony Support to see if it is a common problem and to get an estimate of cost.

Hi Gareth,

What lenses are you trying to attach?   Are they Sony lenses?  Did they work OK in the past?  If you can list the lenses you have tried we can check if they are compatible.

In all Auto modes, the camera checks for a compatible lens.  Either there is a poor contact somewhere between the camera and lens or you are using a non-fully compatible lens.

You can carefully try to clean the electrical contacts to see if that helps but if the lens is not fully compatible with the camera, then you can only use that lens with the camera set to Manual mode.

There is no 'shoot without lens' setting on this camera.

Hi,

The lens is the one that came with the Camera, a Sony N50? Model No SAL1855

I went into a shop and tried both the SAL18250 & SAL 75300 AE (I think)

I have also cleaned the contacts. It's very frustrating as it's about six weeks outside it's 1year warranty

Thanks

Gareth
