Sony A6300

Hi , I've just joined this forum ,so this is my first post but

I've just bought a brand new A6300 camera with twin kit to replace my old mirrorless camera and hopefully can get some answers .

1 of the lenses it  came with is the selp1650 which I have found out is shipped with most cameras and is not that good a lens, I know I have only just got it but it does feel awkard when I have been using it or maybe just need to stick with it but...

I've tried to find a lens that will replace this , am really unsure of what to get as every lens seems to have good and bad points and not an expert in this field  . What I am looking for is a everyday lens ,for example family , garden and if possible takes reasonable photos for ebay etc

Thank you

Hi @Andy-C27,

calling a lens "bad" is relative.

If you are no pro-photographer and like the quality of your current photos, the kit lens should be sufficient.

The kit lens is fine, it's a compromise between size and utility. No the quality is not first rate, it's soft across the board, but with a bit of tweeking in Lightroom, the images are perfectly acceptable. You won't find another zoom lens this small and convenient that is any better. If you want an 'everyday' lens I'd check out the Sigma DN prime range (https://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=59_68), which are all sharp, fast and cheap. The Sigma 'Art' 30mm 2.8 is cheap as chips and not much bigger than the PZ 16-50. The 30mm 'Contemporary' gets really good reviews but is pricier, around £250 I think. I've just bought the 16m f1.4, from e-infinity.com, £295 and arrived in 4 days. It's beautifully put together and excellent...
