Sony Cashback

I submitted my cashback claim at the beginning of Feb with the sales receipt and a photo of the serial number as required.

I received an email back on 2 Feb confirming the receipt of the cashback application.

I have checked numerous times and each time the status shows they are awaiting validation and yet again in the last few days so I submitted a customer service request for an update, response from Sony:

 

With reference to your cashback participation for the Sony SEL55F18Z Lens, we would like to confirm that the cashback for your claim is being validated by our cashback team regarding the reference number of xxxxxxxxxxxx and claim ID of xxxxxx.

Unfortunately, there is no specific time frame on when the claim will be validated, however, once validated, you may allow up to 28 days after the validation and your cashback will be transferred to your bank account from Link Network or World Pay, as you will be confirmed by email if accepted or if any other information is required.

 

29 days to validate the application seems crazy when evidence of a purchase from a Sony approved dealer is submitted and now to be told it could take a further 28 days following validation is ridiculous and unfair to customers - why can't they be like Nikon(and I suspect others) who respond in a far more timely manner.

As good as Sony products are, their customer service related to cashback handling is abysmal.

 

Very poor show Sony!

Hi Ian,

 

Sony support usually sends an email after looking into claims to either confirm that they were accepted or to request more information/documents. If you haven't received either one of those then chances are your claims still hasn't been validated yet. But it's a matter of time before you hear back from Sony about your claim.

 

Maybe there is room for improvement when it comes to the time it takes to handle claims, but for now, we can only wait.

Alas, it has been 33 days since submitting my claim and receiving a confirmation email stating they are validating my claim - I have been in touch with Sony Customer Service again and they are still telling me they are waiting to validate my claim and once that has happened it could take a further 28 days before I receive my cashback.

I purchased the lens from an approved Sony retailer and provided a copy of the receipt and a photo of the serial number matching the product registered on my Sony registered product listing.

This means that Sony appears to be either dragging their heels or, they have insufficient staff to deal with them either way it is a shameful state of affairs from a major manufacturer and does nothing to enhance their reputation for Customer Service despite the quality of their products.

Thank you so much for your asistance and not sure if it is a coincidence or your contact has worked wonders but I have this afternoon received an email from Sony confirming they have validated my first claim and payment will be made within the next 28 days.

Just got to hope the second claim does not take as long to be validated.

Hi Win_88,

All I can say is Wow, you must have friends in high places as following yesterdays email confirming they had validated my claim, today they paid in the money - amazing so a big thank you for all your assistance.

Let's hope they don't drage their heels on the claim for cashback on the 100-400.
