Hi, I have just bought a used Sony Nex 3 camera and a 18-55 kit lens. All is well but I would like to check a point. The ? shutter is louder than I would have expected. Do these cameras have a noticeable noise when you take an image. This is the first time I have used a Sony product so I do not know what to expect. Thank you for your support.
Kind regards
Trudie

Hi Trudie and welcome.
Sony's official answer is that the NEX has a mechanical focal-plane shutter (like a full SLR camera) and the sound is not an artificial add-on. What you hear is the actual mechanical sound of the shutter plus the motor re-cocking it.
I have seen lots of arguments from users who say they can show that the sound comes from the speakers.
Whichever is true, there is no fix.

Thank you for the reply. That has helped me understand the noise the camera makes and why.
