Bravia KD65XH9005 + HT-ST5000 ATMOS passthrough, audio lag, Dolby Vision

I just received the XH9005 about 3 weeks ago and started noticing a couple of issues when connected by HDMI to the ST5000.

In Kodi, or NFL Game Pass the audio drops out completely at random moments. To get the audio back I need to switch between the TV speakers and back to the soundbar in order to get audio back on. The audio also loses sync on NFL Game Pass and falls about 1-2 seconds behind the actual video. Stop and starting the video solves it.

Second is that I can't seem to get audio to pass through without conversion. If I play True HD, ATMOS titles with Kodi or VLC they show up as Dolby Digital Plus.  Even titles with ATMOS over DD+ show up as only DD+.

Is there not a way to pass raw audio without manipulation from the TV to their own soundbar which does support TrueHD and ATMOS? Netflix/Disney+ will both pass ATMOS on the receiver activating ATMOS and is clearly visible on the soundbar once active.

TV is connected to the soundbar by HDMI in port 3. eARC is enabled, with Dolby Digital Plus and passthrough on enabled. Enhanced HDMI is enabled on both the soundbar and the TV.

I also notice that Kodi or VLC do not activate Dolby Vision when playing titles in Vision.

@jpc0480

If you can set Bitstream rather than PCM for the audio on the TV, wherever that lives, this would give the raw passthrough you seek.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Currently the options are Dolby, Dolby Digital Plus or PCM. Right now I'm using DD+.

Hello jpc0480, after checking both of the Manuals here's what I found.:

-Make sure to connect the system to HDMI 3.

-Enable eARC mode on both devices:

*TV: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/haep2/v1/en/04-04_01.html

*The Bar: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4687/177e67ef0b6478b983b4b6190e14b9c1/46878383M... (Page19)

Also make sure that you have the latest update for the TV that was just released yesterday: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-android-xh90xx_x90xxh_x91xxh_xh92xx-series/kd-65x...

Let me know if it worked.

No that did not solve the problem. Audio still drops and no true pass through.

I have enabled earc and enhanced mode on both sound bar and TV.

Tried that as well - without success. In fact, reset both TV and sound bar.

Do not have the issue when using other devices like PS4. It's only when using AndroidTV.

Try factory reset the TV then, let us know if that worked.
