Hi all,
I turned my TV on today and the Sony symbol appears and then 4 coloured dots appear and swirl around before the TV shuts off and restarts, again showing the Sony logo and the coloured dots. This continuously repeats.
I have tried factory reset using power and volume down but nothing happens, the reset loops just continue. I’ve held the buttons for as long as a minute.
Sony customer service is closed for the weekend so any advice would be greatfully received. I have read on Sony’s website that they have been rolling out new firmware automatically. I’m guessing it’s to do with this?
Many thanks
Hi there,

Hi dmc5jc,
I believe your TV needs to be repaired. I will try passing this to Sony.
Cheers,

You will need to disconnect any networking you have connected, either wired or wifi. I have had this problem since mid Feb as have a handful of other people, but apparently not enough people to for Sony to aknowledge that a bricked TV is an issue!
Update:
Having gone around in circles with Sony on this issue, they had no idea what was causing it. The suggested solution was a £250 repair at a repair centre 25 miles from my home.
Having searched online, this is a common occurrence, yet Sony continue to sell the product with a known issue.
I’ve decided to bite the bullet and buy a rival brand TV rather than pay £250 for a repair plus the pain of hauling a 55” TV in the back of my car to the repair centre.
My last 2 TVs have been Sony, my Bluetooth speaker is Sony, my laptop is Sony, my blueray player Sony. But this will be the last bit of Sony equipment I will buy. A £650 TV conked out in 3 years. I’ve had shoes last longer. I’ve never had any other tech break down in such a short period of time and unfortunately when you’re paying so much money, you only need to be burnt once. I made this clear to Sony and they really didn’t care.
Good luck to anybody buying a Bravia TV in future, because that’s what it appears to be...a gamble.
