Film Mode breaks when I turn the TV on or switch between apps - XR-50X90S

I bought this TV on Saturday and for the most part I like it, but it has a very annoying issue.

When turning the TV on or switching between apps, the Film Mode setting glitches out and videos start looking very stuttery. Toggling the setting back off and on corrects the issue until the next time. This setting is very important to me as it lets you play stuff at its proper frame rate.

I have restarted the TV and it is on the latest software update. Any ideas?

Edit- I've realised that the bug also triggers when I start playback of the next episode in a series, and even when I adjust the volume. This is so frequent that I'm beginning to think I'm better off returning the TV for a refund which I really don't want to have to do.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I think I have managed to resolve the issue. Changing “AV Sync” in the sound settings from its default of AUTO to ON has solved it. I no longer have stutter on streaming apps.

Weird fix as I thought the AV Sync setting only affected things like Bluetooth headphones, and I just use my TV speakers. It appears to be a Sony bug going back a few years, I found the fix in this thread on AVForums:

What's the current software on your TV?
And does it happen only in apps or all content? Do you have an aerial or a TV box?
It might be due to restrictions caused by this: https://cutt.ly/95Kxa7q.
As it doesn't only affect the aspect ratio, but it's better to test everything still.
