How can I remove YouView from my 55xd9305 permanently

Ive got the marshmallow update on my tv, want to get rid of the youview app permanently, I understand I would need to flash to the EU firmware.

Ive set up a proxy within the networking settings even tried with a smart DNS too, but when I go to manual software update, its says Ive got the latest update

Any help please?

Many thanks

Hi there

Unfortunately YouView can only be disabled. It cannot be removed - EU and UK firmware is now the same, not like how it was before.

Cheers

It isn't, so it may be that your TV would benefit from a Factory Reset.

But if you disable the YouView interface, you can revert to the Freeview one, and it's pretty much as good as wiping the YouView software off completely, as it should not come back, even on a major software update.

Here's the recipe :-

Press the Home button on the remote control
Go to Settings/Channel Setup/YouView Setup/Disable YouView
Choose Yes to confirm.

YouView Superuser, but not an employee of YouView, nor retained by them for this purpose. It's purely me speaking
