Info banner randomly appearing with the PS4

When playing with the PS4 usually once per session the banner with the HDMI port and resolution appears randomly. I have a 49XD8099 and it happened with both 6.0.1 and 7.0. Other people reports that it happens with the PS4 Pro as well.

I am not sure if this has been reported in here (I'm in both UK and Italian forums and I mix them sometimes), but in case did anyone find a way to fix it? Also, does it happen with the Xbox One as well, for people who have it? Because I have a feeling it's mostly a PS4 issue.

Actually I have done now a quick search and it seems I am not able to find a post with a similar issue. Doesn't it happen at all? My PS4 is usually set in English, the only difference is that I have the tv in Italian. I dunno, just wondering.

Hi @dzb_87. I received this 29 Jan 2018 (before the firmware update was delayed) from Sony Support - “Sony are releasing a firmware update within the week and it could potentially fix your banner issue. Prior to providing you with any other resolution, would you mind updating your firmware first?”. Potentially fix doesn’t sound hopeful.

Thia didn't fix my issue. Info banner showing which input and what resolution is set appear at top of screen randomly while using HDMI input for TVBOX or laptop use..

Also as simple logic, because it is under Channel settings, and you are not using TV Embded Channel functions this does no effect. You are using an External input via HDMI.

My TV is KD-49XE8005

I also sbmit a topic include this issue and many others but somehow it is marked as Spam and did not posted to community yet.

This happens to me using my sky box.  Everytime I change channel. It is so annoying and I can't find anything in settings to turn the banner off. KD-43XF7073

I can confirm that this is also happening for me as well when playing PS4 PRO.

The PS4 PRO is connected to my Yamaha RX-A2070 receiver > to my Sony XF9005 (65 inch)

All devices are running the latest firmware.

My PS4 Pro after being fine since I owned the XE9005 has started doing this. It is set to ouput via HDMI DTS (bitstream) with the Optical cable from the TV to the AV received and usually in games thats all fine and dandy but, what happens intermittantly while in a game (not switching, loading or anything) is the signal switches from DTS to Stereo and the info bar pops up. I can then force the PS4 to output bitstream DTS again and it fixes it.

So while disabling the banner will "hide" the problem, the signal I assume will intermitantly swtich from DTS to Stereo. Any idea whats causing this?

Faulty PS4 Pro, TV? Any ideas?

Similar problem when connecting my PC. My purpose is (PC Windows 10 connected HDMI to TV KD-65XE7096😞

- Keep HDMI connected

- Go to Sound settings in Windows and disable sound output in TV (right click and disable).  Sound remains on PC.

- Output sound through headphones to speakers (not tried to send headphones output to TV but I think it should work)

Info popup disappeared. I know it is not a optimal solution but I prefer rather than the banner appearing twice every minute. Also purposed solution for removing info banner from those TV that have the option is a cosmetic solution.

No such option under Channel Setup on my KDL43WF663.   Any ideas how I permanently turn off the info banner for this model of bravia tv?
