ITV Hub gets stuck after adverts

I've read a lot on various forums but I haven't found a solution to this.

When I try to use ITV Hub I can usually get to the first set of adverts but then the playback just stops. If I try and stop and then resume from where I left off I get the privilage of watching the adverts again but it doesn't get to the programme.

This is only on my Sony Bravia KD-49X8305C. I can watch online or on a firestick without issue. My TV is up to date with firmware V5.433. My ISP is Vodafone. I tried watching through a VPN but that didn't work either.

I used to have the same problem with All4 but it seemed to get resolved with a software update.

Are there any fixes here? Its very frustrating as I get this TV for its 'Smart' features and figured that an Adroid would be a good bet but I've never not had issues like these.

Same problem here, this time with a Sony Bravia KDL50WF663 TV bought just over a year ago. Firmware is current and the ITV Hub app worked originally, but now (as with all other comments) stops playing programmes after the first set of adverts. This is following a complete reset. Used on the same network is an LG TV which has no issues whatsoever.

This worked before, so Sony have screwed up a software update somewhere. If anyone from Sony is moderating this, can you sort this problem out? It seems that all other TV manufacturers can make this work, so why can't you? Generally have been less than impressed by the TV anyway: blurry picture and very much overpriced compared to the (far superior) competition. Seems like you're relying on you name to get you business these days rather than producing quality goods.

I have a solution. If you are willing to pay £3.99 per month to upgrade to Itv Hub +, you have no adverts and it plays perfectly. I upgraded yesterday to test it out, first week is free and you can cancel at any time. It’s working perfectly and if and when Sony actually sorts out the problem I can unsubscribe if I decide to do so. Have to say I rather like having no adverts, so will probably keep it.

Spoiler
We had the same problem with the Sony TV. It turns out when you set up the TV you have to allow all the information to be shared with 3rd parties. Not really great but I set it to allow this and the players started working. I believe it will also work if you pay for the non advert itv player. It still feels wrong but that seems to be the only option.

I had this problem for a while! I’ve just fixed it by pressing ‘Home’ on the remote. Go down to ‘Settings’. Then run the ‘initial setup’ again. Make sure that you ‘accept all’ or ‘tick all’ on the first screen and then set up YouView once it gets to that point. Then setup normally like you did before. You WON’T lose any data that’s currently on your TV, logins etc. (I didn’t anyway). I now have the YouView guide when I press guide on the remote but all catch up programs are FINALLY working! 😁 I hope it helps!

I have exactly the same problem. ITV Hub and Channel 4 catch up both return back to the beginning of the program at the first set of adverts. This has only started recently after i installed the latest updates from Sony on the TV. I have tried everything the forums have stated. SONY YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR SOFTWARE UPDATE PLEASE FIX IT QUICKLY!!

What is the current version of the software? Have you tried to disconnect the router and the TV from the mains for a few minutes?

I’ve been having the same with an AG9.  It’s a software issue with ITV player and youview, needs a update pushed through

Your suggestion worked for me....thank you

We are having this problem too. Extremely annoying as we bought this Sony tv to make access to all services easier.
The only way we are getting around it is going to youview and selecting the programme from there. The problem of freezing after the adverts still occurs so we have to go back to youview and select the programme/episode again - possibly doing this a few times until it works.
Please fix this problem with the ITV Hub ASAP!!!

We have the latest update and have reset the tv. This enabled the ITV Hub to work again as that had stopped working prieviouly. The freezing after the advert break (usually the second break) then started occurring!
