KD-48A9 - 2020 Model Issues

I purchased this 2020 model back in September. Excellent Picture.

For the 4th time now I have had to reset the TV as BBC iPlayer and Youtube Freeze. I have reset the cache and done all the logical things to resolve the issue. Sadly nothing works.

This seems to be happening when Netflix has been used. I'm going to run without Netflix for the next week and see what occurs.

Please can someone at SONY acknowledge this issue. This TV is under waranty and if I don't get a resolution soon I'll be forced to return it. A real shame because the TV is excellent in every other way, but with these fundamental apps not working the TV is a waste of money.

Thank you in antisipation.

Hi, sorry for the delayed response.

Yes I have got the latest software on the TV. I'm not sure what version I had before. I did restart the TV through the menu. Maybe this picked up the latest version as since this re-start I have not been able to replicate the issue - which is good. So this version may have fixed it.

I'm not sure why the TV didn't pick the update up itself as Auto updates is enabled by default. It is possible that our TV was running with an older OS version as it was one of the 1st to be delivered 4th Septmember. I think that was the launch date in the UK.  Anyhow, thanks for your help. I'll post again if the problem comes back.

Do you have the latest software version installed? When you say reset the cache, is that for individual apps or for the entire TV through the Storage settings menu?

Hi, I have a KD55XH9505 which has the same issue. Happened twice now, and my TV is less than a month old. I did a OS update right after I bought it 30 Dec 2020.

The problem is similar, though I don't know whether is netflix causing it. But, all app freeze. For example, I click into a youtube video, the picture showed up, but it won't play at all. So it stuck at the same picture.

Then, I tried going BBC iplayer, same thing.

And I click the home button on remote, weirdly, no sound when I click left right up down button (usually has the "browsing sound"

I had face this twice and has done a "restart" from the "about" menu in setting. Just a pain has to keep doing it.

Your describing the same thing I was able to fix with a reset which you have tried and checking I was running with the latest version of the OS also. I've been flicking between BBC iPlayer, YouTube and Netflix on and off now for about a week and fingers crossed have not seen the issue return. We have different models so I'm not sure if the patch that fixes this has been applied to the OS for your TV. It's possible Sony haven't applied it to all models yet. Well it's got to be something like this - or I just havn't been able to break it again as yet. Fortuneltly for me this last point is feeling more and more unlikely now.

Try the OS update again. Force an update too - don't just go with the Auto detect.

I hope you get it sorted soon
