Kd-49x8005c repeatedly having to do a forced factory reset

As the title suggests, I’m having to do this around every 2 weeks.

Any ideas as to what is causing this please, and how can I avoid having to do this so frequently? Thanks

Hey @Franny what seems to be the issue that you're facing on your TV that's making you do a factory reset every two weeks?

Can you check if your TV is running on the latest software version here? As the issue might be software related.

Hi. Thanks for your offer of help. The software was up to date.

The issue started again, but seemed to improve when I attached a LAN cable, instead of relying upon Wi-Fi.

could that be the cause do you think?
thanks

Is it by any chance a boot loop youre stuck in which gives you no option but to reset the tv?,  happened to me twice in the first 6 weeks of owning a Sony Google tv.  Its annoying and down to Sonys bad firmware updates if thats the case, the years Sony have had Android based tvs, youd think theyd have perfected them by now lmao, LAN cable wont make a difference, i solved my issue by disabling automatic updates, its not done it since touch wood lol.  I manually check for updates now, and read around the forums before installing them to see if anyones having issues, difficult to gague tho considering all of Sonys Android based tvs seem to have issues lol.

@graygerman, right! It seems to be a software update issue as it happens with different models. however, they recommend using WiFi instead of LAN cable to avoid this issue, also a factory data reset might help.

@Franny

You still haven’t told us exactly what the problem is 😢

What is it, precisely, that the set does that it shouldn’t, or doesn’t do that it should, to make you carry out these forced resets?

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Basically, the set grinds to a halt. Sort of sticks in a loop. You can’t get a picture. You can’t go to the guide or get a channel.

it’s rendered useless, and then you have to do a factory reset, which is highly frustrating. It then works perfectly for a few days, then goes on a go-slow again.

When this one eventually dies, the next one might well be an LG or Samsung.

Thanks for your reply. When searching for updates, it said we’d got the latest version, namely PKG5.433.0183EUB

@Franny But that's not the latest version, so you will need to update the TV using a USB stick, here's the link for it

Thanks very much. I’ll give it a go, when I’m home tomorrow.

i had a sneaky suspicion that might be the case, hence my posting the details of the update.

I just wonder why it wouldn’t update, when I linked the telly to the internet via the LAN cable.
