Kd-49xe8005 panel type?

Hi guys and gals. As a present to ourselves, the wife and I ordered the above as an upgrade to our old 40nx723. We did so on the strength of the advice given by the Sony rep in John Lewis. I was under the assumption that it had an ips panel. Indeed, slot of the specs out there show this, however, he assured me it was a va. Again, there are sites that list it as a va panel. Which is correct? Have I bought something I'll be unhappy with. Of are they a good product?

Aw that sucks. Thanks for clearing that up though. Time to go have a word with the Sony rep at JL. Worth keeping or change to another brand? Can't afford much more.

The (2016) XD80 43" has a VA panel. My 49XD8099 has a very similar panel (if not the same) and I am far from impressed. That's what we get for that price. Still, if you like, these are the suggestions from rtings.com: Best Budget 4k UHD TV.

I don't know about the prices in UK or Europe, though. Nor if it is worth changing it. I think in a video from rtings the XE80 was mentioned as an alternative.
