KD-49XH8196

Hi. I'm looking for some support please. Recently bought the above TV which I'm overall happy with. The issue I'm facing however the whack-a-mole nature of getting my remote to operate consistently for the TV, my Virgin Media TiVo box and Sonos Playbase. If I switch Bluetooth on I can operate TiVo but not the volume (Sonos doesn't have Bluetooth / needs IR signal). If I turn Bluetooth off the opposite happens plus I obviously can't use Bluetooth for anything else. Surely there's a way to parse the volume out and control it via the remote and still use the remote for TiVo?!? For information, the sound is connected via digital output. Thanks in advance.

Have you get the Optical Out level set to be variable, not fixed, so it can be controlled by the volume controls on the TV remote?

How do you do this @royabrown2?

Press the HOME button, then select [Settings] — [Display & Sound] — [Audio output] — [Digital audio out].

Hopefully, one of the things you can set there is Fixed or Variable.

Though I have to confess that I don’t have your exact model to try this on.

Thanks. I investigated this last night after seeing your initial response @royabrown2. Unfortunately my model doesn't have this as an option. This is what comes up ...

Oh dear, Sony seem to have gone backwards on the flexibility of Optical Out in recent TVs.

Perhaps a Sony person here can comment on this, and whether there is any control of the Optical Out volume level elsewhere on this TV?

Thanks @royabrown2. It does seem that way. I replaced my P@na$onic (changed letters as it might be classed as a swear word on this community 😉) neo plasma for this TV. That had no compatability issues and worked like a dream. Unfortunately I made an assumption of support with a newer model TV ...

Hopefully there's someone that can assist on here 🤞🏼.

Have you tried to update the software to the new released firmware v6.5016? You can check it with this link:  https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/downloads/00017127

Try enabling all the devices in the Bravia sync list by pressing home- settings- watching TV- External Inputs- Bravia sync settings- BRAVIA Sync device list and enable it. Also, in the Bravia sync menu, you can try to change the device control keys to tuning keys, the default should be normal.
