KD-55XD9305 55'' UHD 4k Smart TV audio drop after update on 28/03/18

There was a firmware update on the 28th of March 2018 and ever since, if I change channels or rewind or fast forward anything on my Sky HD box, the sound drops for a few seconds. Quite annoying as it means that I have to go back a few moments before any scene that I wish to see so that the sound is back in time for me to continue the story. This is through the TV speakers. Can anyone help please? I have not yet watched any blu rays or played any video games to see if these are also affected.

Hi @ononye

Welcome to our world (KD-55XE9305). Sony have not been able to fix this problem for a year. On top of the audio drop outs the Info Banner appears everytime the audio format changes. A simple test is to change from BBC 1 SD to HD, channel 101 to 115 and back. With my Sky Q box set to Dolby Digital the change causes an audio format change from PCM (Normal) to DD (Dolby Digital). I have now got used to the audio drop outs and I have switched off the Info Banner. As you are using the TV speakers a possible work-a-round is to change the audio on your Sky box to Normal. I don't know if that is possible on Sky+HD as I changed to Sky Q 20 months ago. Even the latest update on 2017 models didn't provide a fix. Chances of Sony fixing it - zero.

Thanks for the reply.  It's strange as the update was only yesterday and before that I did not have any sound issues.  I have never adjusted any sound elements via the TV or Sky HD box, so not sure if it is connected,  but will give it a try.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Yes, ever since the March 28th firmware update, things have gone wrong.

It was ok since then !

See here, similar problems:

When rewind/forward on Sky, it now takes a while for the sound to kick in !!! (Before the update, it was ok)
