Has KD-65XH9505. Does not output Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, DTS: X Master Audio all converted to Dolby Digital Plus or dts. Uses the built-in app media player (has also tried with other different apps) and hdmi arc for amplifiers that can handle these formats. Have checked the file to be supported. And in the manual, the TV must support the audio formats. Gets the audio formats if connected via hdmi from a computer.
Can't the built-in app play all formats?
Thanks
It looks like you say.
See also this in the manual.
"eARC mode"
If [Auto] is selected, high quality sound is used as the output sound when a device with eARC support is connected to an HDMI port labeled “eARC / ARC”.
Hi @HannahEd01
Are you getting things wrong, just to convince me you are not a bot? 😛
That page says:-
Audio:
In eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) mode
Refer to the Help Guide for details. Except eARC mode

eARC/ARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel/ Audio Return Channel) (HDMI IN 3 only)*5
In eARC mode
Refer to the Help Guide for details.
In ARC mode

DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL)
Digital optical jack (Two channel linear PCM:
And as we are talking eARC here, it’s all ‘Refer to the Help,Guide for details’.
i.e. nothing substantive about formats here at all 😢
That link is in Furrin 😢
Further though is that you are using Bitstream, not PCM, for passthrough, aren’t you?
what do you mean by format?
passthrough does not use pcm so clearly
sony on all TVs does not release Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, DTS: X Master Audio via any app. It is Sony that in its limitations has chosen to do this as it looks. Have checked the same manuals on different sony tvs and everyone says the same thing in the manual.
Tested the same files on an Nvidia Shield TV with Android version 9.0. Used VLC and KODI. Both worked perfectly transmitted all audio formats perfectly.
Then went to test the same files on the TV Android ver 9.0. Installed VLC and KODI made the same settings as above. It does not work to get everyone out of sound. So Sony seems to have chosen blockers so we do not get all the audio formats.
Those of you who have a sound loop or amplifier that can handle the audio formats Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, DTS: X Master Audio.
Can test if you get these formats when the file is shared through the network or saved on a USB hard drive.
