mastered in 4K

hi all 

any help would be great 

we have just bought the 8004 bravia but can t seem to get the picture great all the time sometimes the blacks or dark colours look like its puddling or a ripple effect and not a soild colour i looked at settings and my Mastered in 4k is greyed out and can t turn on 

 if i try to turn on says available for HDMI but tried changing on the and there is no option tried it on Amazon prime 4k but still does not come on 
also the Auto picture mode is Greyed out as well 
anyone any ideas

Hi @Redj69,

 

the setting "Mastered in 4K" is meant for Blu-Ray discs, which came out before real 4K Blu-Rays were released.

 

Their colors are mastered in a certain way to make it possible to up-scale it to a video, which is very close to native 4K.

I am a bit confused. So why Mastered in 4K is on when I play a movie from my Apple TV 4K (with 2160p video at 24fps)? I have set the TV in a way that it switches to "Home Cinema" when the signal is 24Hz and in that case the Mastered in 4K flag is on although greyed out. So it applies to streaming via HDMI as well?
