Model KE55A8

I've just purchased my 1st Sony OLED model KE55A8.

At the moment I'm just wondering what all the hype is regarding OLED's, I'm struggling to see any difference from my old LED TV.

Can people share there settings for this model and is it worth getting a Technician in to have it Calibrated.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You should not need to have it calibrated in order to appreciate the infinite contrast of an OLED vs any LCD TV. Just use the personal pre setting, switch off the light in your room, watch a movie - even on a streaming service in 4k/HDR - and relax. Then compare what you see on the LCD in the same situation: a comparison with the credits at the end or the black top/bottom bar during the movie is embarassing. Those are the easiest tips, but the infinite contrast apply to any single pixel of your new tv. Along with the much wider viewing angle.

I agree with rooobb.

In general, the easiest way you could tell the difference between OLED and LCD/LED is blacks and especially when there's any kind of moving bright area on top of blacks, since that's what makes OLED special in the first place as there's no separate backlight layer shining and -inherently- bleeding too much brightness into what would otherwise have none.

Hope this helps!
