Netflix stopped working

I have a 49XD8088. Netflix has always worked with no issue. Today it will not work. The app opens, logins in, but when i play a programme it plays for a second, I then get an error message saying unable to play. It works on all other devices, so is just the TV.

Called Netflix- gave them the error code and they said Sony's fault. I believe the app very recently updated, my son isnt sure if it has worked since.

Followed netflix- advice, turned on and off again- rebooted router- reloaded app-no joy.

 

Any ideas?

Hi Alanchown,

 

Welcome to the Sony Community! I am not sure as to what has caused the problem. But I would advice you to follow the steps here under and hopefully that should resolve your problem. If it doesn't report back your results and we will try a different solution.

 

  1. On the supplied remote control, press the Home button.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Apps.
  4. Under System Apps.
  5. Select NETFLIX.
  6. Select Force stop Netflix.
  7. Select Clear data.
  8. Select Clear cache.
  9. Power reset the TV by holding the POWER button on the remote until the TV starts shutting down.
  10. Select Google Play Store and update the Netflix app.
  11. Sign back in to Netflix.

Unfortunately that has not worked. My firware is v6.2858. I think a new version is available, but currently my TV is not loading it- I assume its because its being rolled out- no idea if that will fix it?

You can try to update the software by downloading it to a USB stick from the following link: https://bit.ly/2xhKg2L. You'll also find the instructions for updating it mentioned in that link.

I have now updated firmware to latest version. Unfortunately still no Netflix.Very frustrating.
