Remote control not working and stupidly did a factory reset

I wonder if anyone can advise me?

I have a KD-55XF9005 and tonight the remote control suddenly stopped working. I did the usual things - changed the batteries, did various reboots of the TV, confirmed there was a light coming from the remote using my phone's camera (there was) etc.

I could still control the TV using my remote control app on my phone. But then I read somewhere to try a factory reset of the TV. So I did. And of course now I have a remote that doesn't work and the app on my phone no longer works because it's not paired with the TV,  and I can't get beyond the first page of the setup menu and can't use the TV.

Can anyone offer any advice on how I get out of this pickle?

Is there any way to complete the set up using buttons on the TV?  Will just getting a new remote solve everything or is the problem likely to be on the TV side?

Thank you very much if anyone can help.

If the remote is working than  maybe is the tv receiver broken. You cannot do much in that case than to call the support . Setting it via the buttons is not an easy task but with much patience you may try

Thank you  for your reply but how do I set it using the buttons?  For example, the first option in the setup is the language. How do I select  without the remote working? I've tried all combinations of the 3 buttons on the back.

Not sure if it will work but if you have a wired USB keyboard you could plug it in to see if  that might allow you to set it up?

Hi @penrith67

It is a long time since I performed a full reset but from memory doesn’t it prompt you to use a phone or tablet to complete the setup? I could be completely wrong (old age). The “official” app is “Android TV” by Google LLC.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the prompt to confirm the language is before the TV is connected to my network so I can't access it yet using the app. But cheers for trying to help.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have a wired keyboard but will try to get hold of one. It definitely sounds worth a try.
