Sony 55X900E sleep screensaver problems

Hi,

I have a new Android 4K TV 55X900E, Andorid 7, latest firmware. Most of the stuff works fine but there are two annoying problems: screensaver does not work, TV never goes into sleep mode. Changed any settings, made factory reset. Nothing helps. :slight_frown:

Hi sunnyryz,

Welcome to the Sony Community.

Have you tried to manually setup the screensaver on the TV?

To do this, press the HOME button, then select [Setting] - [Screen saver] from here you will be able to configure the settings of the screen saver.

With regards the sleep timer on the TV, this would need to be set so that the TV will automatically turn off after a preset time.

Again, press the Home button, then select [Timer] - [Sleep timer] - and the desired time option.

Let me know if this helps?

Best wishes,

Sean Mc

When I launch the default screensaver manually from menu options: Home-Settings-ScreenSaver it does work but never starts automatically.

I set screensaver after 5 minuts of inactivity, sleep after 30 minuts. When PC is down or there is no input on any hdmi or analog ports I get message No Input Signal, port name, clock etc. TV displays this message forever and the panel leds are ON.  I'm not using timers at all. For years I never shut down monitors, printers, subwoofer, etc. There is automatic sleep preconfigured on any devise I used for years. It seems totally bizarre to push power button every time to switch ON/OFF TV in 2018!

Hi sunnyryz,

Just out of curiosity, does the same thing happen if you disconnect all external devices? Because if it doesn't, then there could be some conflict in incompatibility between the TV and other devices that are connected that keep the TV awake.

Yes, I disconnected everythig: PC, Receiver, Wi-Fi, moved mobile phone to another room, pooled out battery from the remote. Nothing helps.1.jpg22.jpg

And what does it do when you choose the options other than “Backdrop”?

I tried four options. The same behavior.4.jpg

I suppose you have the TV for some while already and it’s not coming out of the box just yesterday. Did it use to activate the screensaver before normally? Could it be that it has stopped working normally after a certain event? Have you installed any apps on your TV? Have you paired any Bluetooth accessories to the TV? Have you activated and customised the Developer Settings? Have you tinkered with commands through the ADB interface? Has the TV gone through a firmware update recently?

In most cases a reboot (power cycle by disconnecting the mains) solves this kind of issues. But there can be many reasons why it is not triggering the screensaver. All reasons are of a software nature, since you mention that you disconnected everything from the TV. So if even a Factory Data Reset didn’t fix the problem. Then the next obvious step is to claim a service repair under warranty.

Thank You,

Finally I've got this feature work. I entered Smart TV interface and after 5 minuts screenserver started. It only works in Smart TV interface but does not work with other interfaces when using external hardware output. My conclusion that it is not a hardware or sofrware fault, it is just bad disign.
