Sony Bravia AF9 new firmware v6.5016 Jan 2021 annoying power consumption notification

The new firmware just installed on my TV has introduced a very annoying notification about power consumption. You have to click “ok” or "cancel" on the pop up notification every time picture mode or picture brightness setting is changed.

It is such a stupid implementation because even if you are choosing a less bright/lower power consumption mode you get this notification which you have to click through.

Which numpty thought this was a good idea and how the hell did it get through quality control? Don't need to see this multiple times every time the settings are changed. Please remove it or restrict it to only once each time you go into settings or provide an option to turn it off by the next update.

Totally Agree, a stupid and annoying thing to implement.  Please remove it Sony.

Why oh why did they do this, very annoying, message comes up with many of the settings. Come on Sony, get rid off it or at least give us the option to turn it off.

This is such an annoying problem to have introduced.

Ok, have it pop up the first time, but EVERY TIME ! Ridiculous.

I've been on to customer sony customer services about it..... Apparently the notification to do with Euro legislation..... can't see them removing it as their hands may be tied.

Saying that, it could be implemented much better, and far less intrusively...

Maybe if enough folk email them regarding this they'll take a look at it because it absolutely ruins the u.i.

SORT IT OUT SONY.

If it is linked to Euro legislation, surely having a single notification the first time you change those settings should be enough, if my A9 had a "set and forget" robust PQ like some of my previous TVs then this wouldn't be so much of an issue, but I'm always in the picture menu tweaking because the content is so varied and the TV handles different formats in different ways, to be confronted with this on every little microtweak is becoming more than tedious.

Didn't Sony get the memo that says we are not in the EU any more?

I also follow the US forum and they have not received this update yet, will be interesting to see if they also get the power notifications when the update is released there. Have emailed Sony direct this morning to complain about this, if it is an eu directive then it can be made a lot less intrusive.

I've seen this same question on Twitter and the reply from Sony was "We'd like to highlight that this was implemented based on the latest EU regulation for power consumption and is not a fault of the TV".

I've put a YouTube video up highlighting the problem and linked it to this thread.
