Sony Bravia No longer displaying Dolby Vision

Hi. I have the SONY Bravia KD49XH9505BU, bought it about 2 weeks ago. At first it was fantastic and watching things in Dolby Vision (Disney+) was incredible. However, since an update was installed 24th Feb, Dolby Vision is no longer available when watching Disney+. The picture is nowhere near as good as it was. I have restored factory settings, rebooted my router and SkyQ box and nothing has worked. I think I may have to send it back. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Thanks.

Hi,

Can you please check in the Google Play Store if the Disney+ App is up-to-date?

Cheers
Peter

Hi Peter. It is. But I watch through the SKYQ Box. When I bought the tv 2 weeks ago the content was displaying as Dolby Vision. I have spoken with Sony who couldn't offer a solution and I have done 2 factory settings as well as rebooting our router and the box itself. The TV only displays DV content from the blu-ray player now.

SkyQ doesn't support Dolby Vision at all (and never has done, the best it does on v2 and v3 boxes is HLG).  The Disney+ app has lost 4K support on a range of apps recently, but these are being added back after the release of Star for some reason).

If I watch Disney+ on the AppleTV it reports as DV the same as on my Bravia (XH8505), but Sky Q is HD (it was UHD in the past from memory).

@Ryanh75 Does the app not show Dolby Vision on the TV as well?

It does indeed

Hi, the app does display DV even through the SkyQ box. At least, the TV did give me the option. Then it stopped.

I can watch DV when on D+ and Netflix apps through the TV so all is well. What I didn’t know was that D+ stop some films having the option of DV, randomly.

It does. It’s my first android/UHD tv so a few things were confusing. For example, Avatar was Dolby Vision on Disney+ when I first watched it but now it isn’t. It’s nothing to do with the TV but to do with decisions made at Disney.

I can assure you that no Sky Q box has ever supported an HDR format above HLG.  Therefore, you cannot have watched D+ in DV via the Sky Q box.
