Sony KD-65A1 will not boot after forced reset

I returned from holiday having left my Sony KD-65A1 OLED TV on standby. I pressed the TV remote on/off and the TV came on with sound but no picture. I tried off/on with the remote a few times but still no picture (black screen). I unplugged the TV for a few minutes but no signs of life at all after plugging back in. I tried this a few times without success. I followed the instructions for a forced factory reset holding both the power and volume down buttons on the back of the TV while plugging the TV back in. After 10 seconds I get a green LED but it will not boot up. I tried this a number of times and each time I get a green LED but can get no further. There have been no signs of failure prior to this issue. I hope someone has seen this before and can help please.

Yes that also happened to me on my 65".

I sorted mine by unplugging and leaving it unplugged all day whilst i was out, approx 6 hours, when i resturned and plugged her back in it immediately fired up with the Sony logo followed by the google screen.  That was very early on when i bought the tv, since multiple updates its never happened since.

I suggest leaving it unplugged for more than a few mins, maybe an hour, see what happens, if not possibly a forced update via udb if its poss to do that using the buttons on the tv with no picture.

Otherwise you may need to give Sony a ring.

When a Sony KD-65A1 has no picture, standard troubleshooting should be tried first. If these fail, you can attempt a forced factory reset using the physical buttons on the TV. If the issue persists, the TV may require professional service

.

Standard Troubleshooting (with no picture)

Since you have no picture, the following steps rely on physically manipulating the TV and its connections:

  • Power Cycle the TV: Unplug the TV's power cord from the wall outlet for at least 60 seconds. Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a power strip, which might be faulty) and try turning it on.
  • Unplug everything from the tv
  • Check for Sound: Turn on the TV and listen for sound. If you have sound but no picture, the issue might be specific to the display panel or an internal component.
  •
  •

Forced Factory Data Reset

If the above steps don't work, a forced factory reset using the physical buttons on the TV can sometimes resolve the issue, even with no picture. The KD-65A1 has multiple buttons (likely three or more) on the back of the TV.

  1. Unplug the TV's power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Locate the Power button and the Volume Down button on the back of the TV.
  3. Press and hold both the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.
  4. While continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
  5. Continue holding the buttons until a green LED light appears (this should take approximately 10-30 seconds), then release the buttons.
  6. The TV should restart twice, and eventually display the Welcome setup screen.
  1.
If the green LED light does not appear, or the TV turns off again and doesn't reach the setup screen, the process has failed and indicates a potential hardware fault.
