Colleagues!
There are uncertainties with the use of the SONY KD-65XH9505 TV. I need Your advice or consultation. The above TV and simple laptop are connected with an HDMI cable. Different cables with different lengths have been tried differently. Several laptops have been tried as well. This has not affected any of the following. What's going on on the laptop screen and the sound is streamed to the TV. Everything works really great! The TV is then switched off with the remote control. The TV is not disconnected from the power supply, but the so-called standby mode is activated. From time to time (approximately once every forty seconds), this standby TV sends a maximum definition sync request to the laptop via an HDMI cable. The screen resolution of a laptop is lower than that of a TV. As a result, the laptop monitor stays black for two seconds. After that, the laptop screen continues to show the picture that was before it went black. And so it happens all the time. Every 40 seconds a black screen for 2 seconds. No joy! The cable itself was plugged into all the HDMI jacks on the TV. The result was the same. Of course, when the HDMI cable is disconnected from the laptop, the laptop monitor not stays black. I asked my local SONY dealer about this standby TV effect. They kindly told me that I need this connected HDMI just tame. That, too, would be understandable to me. In addition, I was advised to use the ACTION MENU button on the remote control and then everything can be adjusted there without any problems. The only thing is that the TV does not have such a remote control. Supplied with SONY RFM TX611E remote control. Remote controls with the required button are, for example, SONY RFM TX310E or SONY RFM 200E. Only these remotes are not mentioned anywhere that they are intended for this TV model and its corresponding button works as required for me. I have tried to get acquainted with all the settings of the TV. I also found the SONY Sync menu. I disabled it. Unfortunately, no change. There is still an occasional black screen on the laptop. Do you have any ideas or comments to resolve the situation? Is it HDMI CEC?
Thanks!
Hi,
Unfortunately this is normal behaviour with Android TVs. The system "calls home" and checks for updates even in standby mode. Whilst this is happening the HDMI and USB connectors are activated as well which cause the described symptom. The only way to get rid of this behaviour is to disconnect the TV from power or to disconnect the PC from HDMI.
Cheers
Peter
I've seen this mentioned before but I couldn't find the thread link, so I'll just repeat the info here.
1- Android TVs have 2 different "levels" of standby, there's active/powered standby and true/passive standby. One has the update or "calling home" as Peter put it, while the other is similar to being turned Off at the wall.
2- The solution mentioned was to use some sort of HDMI or HDCP blocker at the laptop/PC side and it blocked those wake signals.
Hope this helps!

Congratulations! Described problem was successfully solved! I just buy one additional HDMI EDID EMULATOR and use it between TV and laptop. That’s all folks! Funny, but it really works.
