sound drop

Purchased a sony KD-55KE8577 late November 2017, and a UBP-X800 Blu-Ray player,

During play back of some Blu-rays and also while watching tv through a virgin set-top-box the sound drops out for a couple of seconds, the info bar at the top of the tv screen then comes on and displays the HDMI input number the attached device name the screen pixel resolution and time, see attached picture, this happens quite often while watching tv through the set-top- box ,and  in certain scenes during dvd play back, and if I replay the scene the same thing happens every time , I have tried every combination in the sound and picture settings on the Tv and the blu-ray player, , I have tried 4 different types of high speed HDMI cables, attached three different blu-ray players to the tv and same thing happens at that same part in the film, info bar is displayed  the sound goes , I done a factory reset , had no effect,   I have played the blu-ray disc on other tv and blu-ray player combinations and the discs play fine no sound loss , is there a solution for this problem as its driving me mad ,

Hi @Richienev. The Info Banner appearing every time the audio format changes is a well know bug with all 2017 XE TVs. Sony are working on it. The work-a-round until it gets fixed is simple and that is to turn off the Info banner if it bugs you. Home -> Settings-> Channel setup-> Info banner -> Off. It requires a soft reboot (hold down the remote power button for 10 seconds or so until it says Power off and reboots) for it to take effect. The sound drops are not normal so you may have a faulty TV. Best to contact Sony Support for your region.

Hi,

This sounds exactly the same issue that  am having.

My TV has been working fine for months however I purchased a enw sound bar yesterday which uses HDMI.

When I wake my tv from my Nvidia shield using CEC and try and play something with DTS or Dolby audio, that same INFO banner will pop up randomly every 10 seconds or so and the audio will drop out for a second when it happens.

I can fix this by unplugging the SHIELD's hdmi cable (not the sound bar strangely) and plugging it back in. the issue remains fixed until the next time I sleep / wake the devices.

My TV is a KD55XD7005
