Too many remotes....

Recently received a KD-55X80K TV 2023 model (after Currys replaced my 2020 model due to an issue with the screen). It came with two remotes ('regular' and smart/minimalist), which were added alongside my existing Virgin Media and LG soundbar remotes. I'd hoped to downsize from 4 remotes but I'm having no joy whatsoever!

During setup I connected the Virgin box and the soundbar, but it hasn't worked completely smoothly. The Virgin remote actually works for everything, but it's far from ideal for using TV apps and my kids aren't into using it. The 'regular' Sony remote works for TV apps and volume, but no matter what I do it won't control Virgin. The 'smart' Sony remote is the one the kids love and I'd be happy to just have that alongside the Virgin remote...however when you adjust the volume it says it's doing so on screen, but the sound is unaffected (if you press mute the sound just stays on, etc.). Also when turning the TV on with this remote the soundbar doesn't switch on, meaning that the 4th control for the soundbar needs fetching!

When trying to sync the Sony remotes with the soundbar, I'm told it has worked, but only the 'regular' remote actually works, not the 'smart' one. Can anyone advise on how to get around this? If I can get down to just two remotes (Virgin and smart) I'd be happy with that - it would be two fewer to track down from behind the cushions! Thanks

Hi @GARTHYNUFC

You can try to use the Bravia sync function to minimize the number of remote controls, you can find the instructions here: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-55x80k/article...

If you have that already enabled, you can check the Bravia sync settings and adjust it: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/jaep1/v1/en/04-07_03.html

For the 2 remotes with the TV, they both do the same thing, I guess the difference that one of them has the mic button, you can check this one for the difference between the 2 of them: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-55x80k/article...

Hi, thanks for these links, sorry for the late response. These guides have confirmed that the relevant devices are linked so everything looks to be in order. The key issue now is that the smart remote still can't control the sound and I can't find a way to resolve that. If I could resolve that issue then I could be down to 2 remotes, which is fine with me. Any idea how to fix this? I can't figure it out from any of the setting menus. Thanks
