TV Sony KD65XH9096 unable to connect to a hidden network (not broadcasting SSID)

As a security measure at home I have set my router not to broadcast SSID, unfortunately then my TV refuses to join it. If I unhide the SSID the TV joins, but as soon as I will hide it disconnects. This is not acceptable, as hidden Wifi is basic security for a private household.

Based on this article: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00202687 there should be no problems with joining Sony Android TV (which is what I have) to hidden WiFis.

Never had problem in connecting my own A1 to my own wifi that is hidden since ever. You can connect it by manually writing the SSID even if it is not shown in the list of the available networks

OFC I did that (manually writing the SSID)...but when the network is hidden it fails to connect, when its not - it automatically connects.

I don't know if there is a specific problem in your TV model (but sincerely I doubt otherwise you'd see a flow of complains in this community since most of the people - I hope - hide their own private networks even if it is a flaky security measure). I'd think more to a network setup problem on your site. You may probably check with a mobile phone hotspot if you have one that is capable of hiding the SSID

I would not post here If I would not check what I can at home.
Also have Sony mobile phone, same occurs if I hide SSID.

All the other devices connect well to the WiFi when hidden and its plenty
of them.

Hi Kuba80,,, do you hide the network before or after you manually connect it? If you hide it after it won't work, sand vise versa.

I have the Sony Bravia XBR-65A9F (Bravia 4K UR1) and I have had the exact same issue: Connects to my network fine if I broadcast the SSID, but as soon as I turn the SSID off, my XBR-65A9F loses connection, and won't connect when I manually enter my network name and password with the SSID broadcast turned off.  I have over 20 other devices connected to my home network wirelessly and they all work fine with the SSID not being broadcast, but not the Android-based, Sony Bravia XBR-65A9F, even with the latest software update, still refuses to connect to my hidden network.  11/13/2021.
