When is my TV updating to Oreo 8 of May 22?

Sony anounced they will start downloading Oreo 8 from 22nd May. It is now a month later and still no update on my TV. Are they only doing 1 TV a day of more. Any idea when I it's my turn?

NB auto update is turned on.

Hello @mansher123,

the automatic update was pulled back but you can always manually update your TV via a USB thumbdrive as instructed here: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/oled-tvs-android-a8f_af8-series/kd-55af8/downloads/000160...

That has been possible since 22nd of May.

Hi @mansher123,

In addition to what my colleague @IamNic correctly mentioned, I'd also like to note that the reason for a staged OTA (over-the-air) deployment of the firmware is deliberately in order to have the ability to monitor and in necessary cases take preventive measures to ensure the success of the updating process.

Generally users that update manually by downloading the firmware are knowingly seeking to experience and learn the latest addition/removal/change of features. Their feedback in return helps the refinement and delivery cycle of the OTA deployment. Monitoring the feedback of this type of users is among various metrics which Sony weighs-in before proceeding to update TV's in large scale.

In easy words, this means for you, that your TV will receive the update only and whenever your TV is ready to receive the update. By allowing the necessary time for the update to take place, you are giving Sony the ability to take the precautionary measures required, and only update your TV whenever the assurance for a trouble free experience exists.

Cheers,

Dutchice

Hi @paulyp77

What problems are you having using the USB update?

Please make sure that you are following the update instructions to the letter. I always use a NTFS formatted USB stick in the HDD USB port (USB3) and on the rare occasions when the TV doesn't respond to the USB being inserted then try a soft reset (with the USB still plugged in, hold down the remote power button until you see Power Off).

Please let us know how you get on.

Please use the update page for your country or region. For the UK:
