XR-55A95K Live TV & Catch Up Subtitles

It is not very often that I actually start a thread!

 

XR-55A95K Live TV & Catch Up Subtitles V6.5954

 

When I turn on the Subtitles using the extra remote Subtitles button or use the Subtitles option using the 123 button I always get an error message at the top of the screen saying Sorry, subtitles for this programme are not available. This is complete nonsense as they do turn on and show with a nice (S) on screen together with the actual Subtitles.

 

Now the problem is turning them off. It doesn't matter what I try, remote button, 123 option or even turning them on and off in the accessibility settings they just don't go away. In fact the error message (Sorry, sub...) always appears and the subtitles never goes away.

 

The only way I can turn off the subtitles is the perform a soft reset.

 

Can anybody confirm if it is just me or all users with a XR-55A95K or any Google TV on V6.5954.

I did receive the suggestion below from Sony Support. But decided to abandon the Live TV & Catch Up and switched to the Sony TV Guide and fitted a HDD (which I will never use) to just to have a play. 😁

 

With reference to your enquiry regarding your Sony XR-55A95K, we are sorry to learn that you are unable to turn off subtitles.
As an attempt to resolve the issue, please uninstall the updates on the live TV and catchup apps following:
Press Home - Settings - Apps - live TV and catchup - select uninstall updates.
If the issue remains, kindly tune the channels following the below path:
Home - Settings - Watching TV - Channel Setup - Auto Tuning - Digital Aerial - Reset.

 

I may try again after the next Software Update but certainly more than happy with the Sony TV Guide.

Yes I get exactly the same problem.

Hey guys, I've had exactly the same problem. Try to retune the channels manually (settings - channels & inputs - channels - channel setup - digital auto tuning ) then uninstall the Catchup   services updates (settings - apps - live TV & Catchup  - uninstall updates ) and check again.

Uninstalling the Youview update solved it for me.

I assume though it will auto update again at some stage.

 

The trouble I find with the Sony guide is the minuscule size of the text
