Are manuals available for Sony CCD-TR2000E camcorder available?

Seeking any user/manual information about this Sony camcorder model CCD-TR2000E.  This model was given to me and I live in the United States.  I realize it is PAL format and not compatible with USA (VHS) format(s).  However, the camcorder is in wonderful condition and I'd like to be able to use it if at all possible.  Are there any other CCD-TR2000E users who can provide some helpful insight?  I would appreciate any assist that anyone may be able to provide.  Thank you for your attention in this matter.

HI Aquadude1, welcome to the Sony Forums.

I've checked the Sony online user manual archive and I'm sorry to say I haven't managed to track down the manual for that model. It is quite an old model (early 90's) which might explain it.

You probably already realise there are many websites offering manuals, for a fee, for out-of-production cameras, just by Googling your model number. I can't vouch for any in particular but that (and possibly eBay) might be your best bet.

If you're looking for anecdotal feedback from past (or - who knows? - present) users, you need to spread your net as wide as possible. This is a fairly generic Sony camera Q&A forum; Sony also has a more specialised Videography forum, and it can't harm to post your enquiry there too:

Best of luck with it

Hi Mick!!

Thank you for your response.  Yes, this is a early 90's model camcorder and I'll take your suggestion and seek a manual from the web.  Again, I appreciate your reply.

Take care,

Hello Aquadude1!

I bought my Sony tr2000E new in about 1995. It came with the manual and I still use it (and the Camera) quite a lot. If I can help with any questions on the contents of the manual I would be happy to do so. It is bi-lingual - English and (I think) Spanish. Try this: 'Bienvenido al video Hi8 (8mm de alta fidelidad) &c. I was using the camera today to record my son preparing for a music competition on Violin and Viola with accompanist.

I have a Sony TR2000E, bought new in 1994 - and still good. It came, of course, with a User Manual - which I still have. I am currently trying to find a way to transfer my 51 odd tapes to computer. This turns out to be more difficult than I thought. However . . .  How can I help you? I do not wish to dispose of this manual though - but I can look things up in it for you.

Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded the User Manual in pdf. Thanks. I
also checked out the two re-chargeable batteries and found them 'in need' of
charging, whilst, at the same time, checking out the remote AA batteries and
found them in a desperate state of discharge - so replaced them. There's
always a danger of battery leakage in a hand-held remote!! Michael UK

The CCD-TR700 manual is at:

and this camcorder is virtually identical to the CCD-TR2000E

If you can get hold of one of the Sony Digital8 camcorders which also plays back Hi8/video8 tapes then you can connect to a computer with a firewire socket and transfer footage digitally.
Only some models will playback Digital8 and analogue Hi8 and video8.
There's a list here:   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital8   on wikipedia.

"The models of Sony Digital8 camcorder that are capable of both digital and analog playback include these models:

DCR-TRV103
DCR-TRV110 (playback of Hi8 and video8 in SP/LP but record and playback of Digital8 in SP only)
DCR-TRV120
DCR-TRV230
DCR-TRV238
DCR-TRV240
DCR-TRV310
DCR-TRV330
DCR-TRV340
DCR-TRV350
DCR-TRV480
DCR-TRV520
DCR-TRV720
DCR-TRV740
DCR-TRV830
DCR-TRV840 "

Just add the 'E' for the U.K. PAL versions (e.g. DCR-TRV240, U.S. version is equivalent to DCR-TRV240E, U.K. version). They all have firewire connections. This is not a complete list as there are some others such as DCR-TR8000E (camcorder with eye-viewfinder only, no fold-out screen)
They sell for more than the ones that don't playback analogue tapes and the cheapest one I've got at the moment is a DCR-TRV110E at £174.99.
However, if you can find one of the models listed, with a faulty image sensor (there are a lot around) on ebay, then it could be fine for playing back tapes and could be as cheap as £60.
Cheers.

I've uploaded a copy of the CCD-TR2000E manual to Dropbox at:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7wkdbfw1px48blc/CCD-TR2000E%20AV-in.pdf?dl=0

Just click 'no thanks' and view, if you haven't got a Dropbox account and it invites you to create one.

This is the import PAL model (cost about £1300, with the duty) with AV-in and colour viewfinder.
