Can CCD-TR918e play Hi8 tapes?

Bought this camera used, immaculate condition. Seem to be having trouble playing back Hi8 tapes recorded on another Sony camcorder (can't remember which model) according to the manual it seems like there should be no issue? Could someone confirm either yes or no, please? Also if 'no' could someone recommended a camcorder that would play them. Thanks.

Yes, this camcorder can play back Hi8 tapes.

If you're having issues playing back tapes from a different camcorder there might be a misalignment of the drive of either your camcorder or the other camcorder. Another possibility could be that there's some dirt on the head drum.

So I would recommend to bring the camcorder to service so they can inspect everything.
