DCR-HC14E Not Recognised by PC
Hi,
I have a DCR-HC14E Handy Cam circa 2004 and about 40 Mini DV cassettes full of family memories.
I am struggling to connect the DCR-HC14E to my PC.
When I use the USB to Fire Wire connection I get the following pop up on my computer screen:
'USB device not recognised - The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it.'
It is a brand new cable so should be no problem.
I wonder if it is because I'm using Windows 11 or possibly there's a hardware issue and I need to buy a more modern camcorder to transfer the cassettes?
Many thanks for any advice as I'm at the end of my tether.
Thanks

No FireWire to USB Adapter will work (same if you have a Cable, which shouldn't even exist).
You need a PC with FireWire Input or an External USB Video Capture Card.
