DCR-HC27e - how do i transfer from tape to MAC using iLink cable?

i have a DCR-HC27e and i cant transfer from tape to my Mac. i have an ilink cable and iMovie but the camera isnt being recognised. i also could use another PC that uses XP if it was easier.

Mac users do sometimes have problems when it comes to transferring with iMovie. One possibility (other than using your XP computer and then transferring it over) is that you may have more success if you perform the following steps in this order:

1) Connect the camera to your Mac.

2) Load iMovie (or whatever software you are trying to use).

3) Switch on the camera and then put it into playback mode.

This may sound odd but I have seen this question asked online before and for a few people, following this sequence has worked - albeit bizarrely

Other than that, you may have to use your other machine first and then import to your Mac.
