Importing DV tape Video from sony DCR-HC24E to Windows 10

Hi there, I hope you can help. I want to import my videos from the Sony DCR-HC24E camcorder to a Windws 10 computer using the ILink Firewire cable. I have a Firewire port on my PC.  I've tried using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 which says 'Capture Device Offline', I also tried the PlayMemories software to no avail, it starts the software (both Adobe and PlayMemories) but won't go online.

I've been directed to this page which suggests for my make and model of camera I cannot use 'PlayMemories Home' software...

It then directs me to this page which seems to suggest I have to use video capture cable

Surely I do not need to use this method, I just succesfully transferred all my old video footage from an older Sony DCR-TRV120e camcorder using premiere pro cc 2018 with no problems at all using an iLink Firewire cable.

Can anyone help please ?

Thanks inn Advance

to be precise: did you transfer your videos from the TRV120e by means of a Win 10 PC or did you use an older OS when transferring?

I'm asking because Win 10 does not naturally support the Firewire interface, i. e., there's no more built-in driver. However, quite some people succeeded by installing Microsoft's Firewire driver for Windows 8/8.1 in a Win 10 surrounding. You can download the driver here. Well, I cannot guarantee that it's working but maybe it's worth a try.

Beforehand you might give Scenalyzer a chance. That's an old software (last update 2010) which is now freeware. Unzip the file, start the programme (no installation required), enter the key which is delivered along within the text file, connect your camera and try to find it. In case that doesn't work either you might still install the above mentioned driver and see whether that helps.

Good luck!

Cheers
