Incompatibility with firefox

I have a Sony Vaio PC and suddenly firefox does not work any more. It seems that there is a incompatibility problem and I think that most Firefox-files are gone!? Can somebody tell me what to do?

Do I have to reinstall firefox? How can I save my bookmarks and the history?
