Hello community, I recently bought the compact HX80 for its price point and features.

Play Memories Home imports just fine through USB connection. Thing is that the camera is not actually reported as recognized so the "Wifi settings import" option never comes up. I 've followed the proposed steps exactly as they 're mentioned in troubleshooting. Ofc, I can live without it but like many others that I 've read over the internet I can't import files in the PC via Wifi. Camera sends files to PlayMemories Mobile and is controlled through the remote feature just fine.

Another thing is that I can't update the 2 Camera Apps because after all the registration and Captcha hassle the camera reports that it's not available for my country (Greece). Dunno what's the problem with a global site installation.

Tbh, I think I paid 40€ more for a WX500 with a viewfinder and 50€ less for an HX90 without manual focus. Although I just found a site that offers the HX90 for just 10 euros more than I paid for the HX80.

Welcome to our community!

Have you tried to set the access point manually first? Usually this help in making sure the camera and the PC are on the same network.
I'd suggest you first try to reset the camera to default settings by following the instructions here. You can then set the access point manually by following the instructions on this link.
After you're done you can test it by sending a file to your PC by following the instructions on this link.
