Latest firmware destroyed my DSC-RX-100M3

I have a 4 year old DSC RX-100M3 camera. I have been using it not too often, mainly at travelling.

I month ago there were some difficulties to turn on by on/off button.

Arriving home I checked if there was a newer firmware, and I installed 2.00. It is already from 2017, but I missed to install it until now.

Since the installation:

  • on/off works randomly
  • sometimes PLAY button turns on only
  • sometimes finder out turns on
  • sometimes battery out - in, than pushing all buttons randomly, and it starts to operate
  • movie button switches to PLAY mode
  • pushing C switches to PLAY after pop up DELETE fonction on screen for a tens of second, but CLEAR is not possible only from main MENU

and the worth:

  • fully charged old and brand new battery is down to zero Volt in some hours after the last use when the camera is switched off. Sometimes no voltage drop after 3 days of last use, sometimes down to zero in 6 hours. Lithium batteries can be killed by discharging to zero... I worry for my new battery too.

Can anybody help?

I have contacted Sony Hungary, but as the warranty os over, they only offered service on my cost.

Thanks!

Hi @vitveral

In this case a reset mostly is the option that makes everything run smooth again.

Here's a support article.

Let us know if this helped you to regain control over your camera.
