RX 100 Attachment grip for Mark V, VI and VII

Hi,

I’m interested in the possibility of buying the RX100 Mark VI or VII camera.

One of the recurring criticisms in the reviews is the fact that the camera is very smooth and difficult to hold. People complain about having dropped it. Some recommend using a cage, which for me would defeat the purpose of the pocket size body and would look very unsightly.

Instead of adding a soft grip to the RX Models, Sony decided to sell a separate Attachment grip. It is presented as “Made to match your RX100 / RX100 II / RX100 III / RX100 IV”. In other words, it should not be used with the V, VI and VII models and there is no alternative available. This was confirmed by the Leeds centre who checked the official stock list of accessories available.

This is very strange, as the bodies are meant to be identical and the grip does not cover any control or socket.

As far as I am concerned, the absence of a grip is enough not to buy an RX100, which would be absurd if it was simply an error on the website and stock information (e.g. because when the grip accessory was introduced, the last 3 models didn’t exist and the information is just out of date).

Could someone clarify whether the Attachment grip is compatible or not with the V, VI and VII models, please?
