To celebrate the release of our first BRAVIA televisions with the exciting new Android TV platform, we’re taking an in-depth look at some of its most useful features. We’ve already discussed Google Cast, and this week we’re diving into Voice Search.
Voice Search allows you to navigate and control your TV simply by talking to it, saving you both time and effort - especially when you can’t find the remote control that you thought was lodged down the back of the sofa.
There are three ways that you can use Voice Search on your Sony Android TV...
Looking to watch something with George Clooney in it? Simply say ‘George Clooney’ and you’ll be presented with a list of all the films he’s appeared in. Or perhaps you’re after something that will get your adrenaline pumping? If so, say ‘I want to watch an action movie’, and Android TV will suggest a selection that it thinks are best suited to your tastes.
Whether you want to open Netflix, turn up the volume or change the channel, Voice Control gives you ultimate power over your TV just by talking to it. No more going back-and-forth through menus trying to find the app you’re after.
How many times have you thought of a question and then Googled the answer on your computer or smartphone? With Voice Question, you can ask the TV and watch as the answer pops up on-screen instantly. It can answer maths questions, tell you the time in other countries, and can even let you know whether you should take a coat with you before you leave the house.
If you have a One-Flick Remote then it’s easy to activate Voice Search - just tap the microphone icon at the top left of the remote. If you have a smartphone, then all you need to do is install TV SideView or Android TV Remote Control and tap the microphone icon on-screen.
