As we all adapt to spending more time at home, we look at how technology can help, not just for keeping productive with work, but beyond that. Here, we talk about the technology that can help you stay healthy in body and mind too.

Working from home?

For many, the major shift has been swapping our usual workplace for the kitchen table or creating a home office out of the spare bedroom. For those with families or flatmates also staying home – or even just noisy neighbours - distractions are inevitable. That’s where noise cancelling technology can be a game changer.

Image-WH-1000XM3.jpgThe WH-1000XM3 Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones feature our award winning, industry-leading* noise cancelling technology. Powered by the dedicated HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1, the WH-1000XM3 block out unwanted noise and deliver exceptional sound quality for your music, or if you prefer to work in silence, the noise cancellation alone is incredible.

The headphones include a useful Quick Attention feature, so if someone asks you something, simply cover your right ear, the person’s voice will be let in, and you can have a quick conversation. They also feature hands-free calling and Voice Assistant, making conference calls and organising your work day easier.

Home entertainment

Another huge overhaul has been in how we find entertainment. Television is often the focal point for many households, but now more than ever, we have time to dedicate to movie nights with our families or binging on the TV shows we didn’t get around to before.

The Sony TV line-up includes 8K TVs, 4K Full Array LED, 4K OLED, and more; our Blu-ray™ players are excellent for enjoying stunning picture quality without worrying about using up your Internet bandwidth; and if you really want to get your home cinema set-up going, a soundbar will provide the cinematic surround sound you need.

Keeping fit

As nations went into lockdown around the world, gym doors closed, leaving many to adjust to exercising outdoors or at home, whilst others discovered enthusiasm for walks, runs or home workouts that they didn’t get the chance to explore previously.

Image_WF-SP800N.jpgWith exercise being so important for our physical health, investing in technology to keep us motivated makes sense. This month, we announced our brand-new WF-SP800N Truly Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones – a versatile product for those with active lifestyles. As well as offering noise cancellation and up to 18 hours’ battery life (with the charging case), they’re also sweatproof, water resistant and have a very secure fit – perfect for exercise! They’re available to pre—order now, but if you can’t wait, you can browse more of our headphones on our website.

If you’re exercising as a couple or with your family, a wireless speaker is a good option for providing a beat, as you can take easily it into the room you want to train in - or garden or balcony - and take it to your relaxation space when you’re ready to unwind.

Partying – remotely

One of the most interesting things throughout this period has been watching different industries adapt. The nightlife scene has gone digital, with many DJs livestreaming their sets. If you’ve tried joining one of these on your mobile, you may have found it a little underwhelming, but add a high-quality speaker to the mix, and you may see the appeal.

From the MHC-V42D High Power Audio System to one of our more portable models, such as the SRS-XB41, these party speakers bring music to life with powerful sound and atmospheric lights. You can browse our full range of audio products here.

Staying creative

Staying creative is one of the best ways to keep our minds healthy right now, whether that’s through art, writing, video creation, DIY projects, or working on your entrepreneurial ideas.

On the Community forums, we have threads of members exploring this new world through photography, documenting life through their windows to the wildlife visiting their gardens. We also run a bi-monthly competition with great prizes up for grabs – so why not grab your smartphone or camera and get snapping!

In support of frontline efforts and communities, Sony has set up the $100 million “Sony Global Relief Fund for COVID-19”. You can read about it here.
