Music Centre for PC not loading/crashing

I own a Sony Walkman NW-A45 and have installed Sony's Music Centre for PC on two PC's - one running Windows 10 and the other running Windows 7.

On Windows 10, the programme opens with a message reading 'contents not found'. I've used the 'menu - import folder' option in an attempt to load music files and nothing happens. I'm therefore unable to load music into my Walkman using the programme. I've found that I can copy and paste files onto the Walkman via Windows, but the files are loaded without the properties needed to use the SenseMe function on the device correctly. I've uninstalled/re-installed the programme both with and without PC restarts and the problem remains - 'contents not found'.

On Windows 7, the programme opens and I'm able to use it to acquire the properties needed to use SenseMe before the programme itself regularly crashes after 4- 5 minutes. I then receive a Windows error message reminding me that the programme has stopped working correctly.

I've been in touch with Sony customer services and the 'solution' is to 'try installing Music Centre for PC on another Windows 10 PC'. This isn't really very realistic - I mean how many PC's do you think I can afford?

With an older Sony NWZ-A15 Walkman, the SenseMe analysis is carried out on the device itself which negates the need for acquiring properties on either Media Go or Music Centre for PC. With the newer NW-A45 this is not possible - the player requires properties to be added via the programme before the SenseMe function will work correctly.

Does anyone have any advice on how I'm able to get Music Centre for PC working correctly using on either of my two PC's?

My Sony Music Center won't open at all.  I have dowloaded and installed it correctly, and repeated the process several times, but each time it does nothing.  I tick to ask it to open after installation, and it doesn't do it.  I click the icon to try to open it, but again; nothing happens.  I am using a new Windows 10 PC, and it is fully updated.  All other programs work fine.  I have absolutely no idea as to what is causing this problem.  I get no error messages, nor does it "fail" as such, to say it won't or can't install, due to a certain issue.  It simply does nothing at all.

I've found a workaround, albeit not a long term solution.  Download an earlier version of the program, and use that.  You would have to get it from a third party website, as Sony only has the latest version available to download.  I have downloaded an earlier version (2.1.0), which is working fine.  Hopefully Sony will come up with a long term solution, but this works in the meantime.

I am having the same issue. After installing Music Center the icon is on my desktop.  When I try to open I get the spinning wheel for about one second, then nothing.  It never opens.  I deleted the app, updated Windows 10, downloaded the app again with same results.  Interestingly, the Music Center for PC Data Restoration tool opens just fine, but Music Center will not open.  I called support and they suggested I try it on another computer.  I have one computer with Windows 10 Home and the other Windows 10 Pro.  I get the same result on both.

I installed the older Music Center 2.1.0 from this link:  http://down.cdhaha.net/?p=624.  It installed just fine and opened just fine.  Music Center then asked me if I wanted to upgrade and I selected to upgrade.  It installed 2.2.1 and then it was broken again.  It will not open on Windows 10 Pro.  I uninstalled and loaded the old version 2.1.0 and it is working fine again.  I would ask Sony Support to get this fixed.  It is frustrating to spend so much money on a Hi-Res musics player only to find out that the accompanying software is broken.  It is further frustrating that customers are having to do the debugging and finding work-arounds.

I have an NW-a20 series Walkman. Just found out Media Go is dead.  Installed Music centre for PC and it won't even load. No error, nothing. Just bombs out.

Really poor and looks like this is not well supported software.

You need to search for the previous version.  That's what I had to do to get it working.

I am also having the same issue with Music Centre version 2.3.0 on a PC running Windows10 Pro. It installs but just won't run.  I have tried uninstalling, clearing the registry and app data of all references to the software and reinstalling but still get the same result no go.  Previous version 2.1.0 can be installed and works fine  (but cant use it with the new NW A105 😞  ).  I have tried installing the software on an identical Windows10 Pro machine and it did install and work OK - so there must be something hidden that the new software doesn't like or just cant deal with.

In case this helps fault finding....  here is what the music center log is telling me each time I try to run it..  .

If the question here is whether this is an issue caused by Music Centre suggesting it's buggy, doesn't the fact that the same version works on another machine prove that it's not?

I wouldn't know what to expect of Sony after confirming that.

I installed Music Center today, version 2.3.0, on a Windows 10 machine.

I can open it, import folders, but if I try to transfer files to my device or analyze audio files, it will begin the task (maybe one song will transfer), then the programme just closes itself with no message, no warning, no nothing.

I guess I'll give the older version recommended above a try.
