Hi Distyl

Thanks for the message.

I cracked it last night.

It took me a while to feel confident but it was so simple once you got your head around the jargon.

The difference is amazing. Not only the volume but the sound settings.

Everything has more presence. Before all sounded weedy. and thin.

A massive plus for headphones as well.

Big thanks

Hello @igiwigi,

unlock it in which way?

If you mean unlock the buttons, then there is a slider on the side of the device which prevents accidental presses if engaged.

Hi Nic

No you silly billy!!

I meant the EU volume cap

Every time you start the machine up you have to keep putting the volume up as it defaults when turned off

If we come out of the EU in October, would Sony do us a favour.???

Equipment is never fantastic playing it at nearly max to get a decent volume on a hi-fi or my Marshal Kiburn.

Do not worry I is also a silly billy!!!

Hi Nic

Do not take my comment to heart, it is just English mens banter or humour..

Of course i know how to open up the  Sony Walkman.

I only said that because you stated the obvious. It is like when you talk to your mate.

I see by the flag that you come from Gemany and I think the volume cap is all accross the EU.

My old ipod 's volume levels were great and they stayed there until you moved them.

The Sony Walkman volume level has to go to the top of it's range to sound good on other equipment and keeps defaulting to 50  every time the thing is switched on. There is a way to undo the volume cap, but i would like to know a safe way as not to upset the firmware.

The EU in their wisdom put this cap on the Walkman and other similar things because they do not want you to go deaf. Nanny state as i call it. As grown ups we can decide by ourselves what we want.

I hate Brussels and the way they dictate our future.

I do hope that UK is out of the EU in October.

No offence as i said . "I can be a silly Billy as well" or have a Blond moment now and then.

I can poke fun at my self as well.No problem.

All the best

John

Hi igiwigi,

I know it's an old post, but if you haven't found a solution for the volume limit, I can help.
