I am having serious problem with my HXD870 DVD recorder. Basically, it will not play the DVD's that I have burned onto DVD-RW blank disks. I get the message "incompatible" or sometimes "no disk". I have tried these same 5 disks on both my desktop PC and also my old Toshiba DVD player and they play perfectly well !! My only option is to try to clean the DVD lens on my Sony HXD870 but my problem is how to access it. (photo of Drive below)
I have taken off the outer casing but I can't see how to access the lens itself. Can anyone guide me as to how to access the lens to clean it with a cotton wool bud as it's probably the only thing stopping it reading the disks. I presume a factory reset is not the problem as everything else works fine
Any help will be greatly appreciated
I forgot to mention in my post that all the blank DVDs that are shown now as incompatible or similar have all been used many times before on this machine with no problems at all. If I could only get the lid off the DVD drive itself I'm sure it's just the lens that needs a good clean......
