DSX-A500 BD freezes upon engine start

My new DAB car radio DSX-A500BD freezes when turning the ignition key for starting the engine.

When turning the ignition key to on(first step), the radio starts up normally, and it takes only a few seconds before the radio is on and tuned to a DAB station.

After some seconds, when glow(diesel engine) lamp turns off and I can start the engine. The radio, and headlights for that sake looses power when engine starts( should be quite normal). I beleive 12v power supply is turned off during engine start on red wire.

When engine starts and power is back on the red wire, it takes some seconds before the radio seems to turn on again. There are lights on the radio display and it indicates that it is receiving, but it has frozen. No sound, and the bluethoot icon does not show. Seems that it will not tolerate losing power for a short time on engine start. This does not happen every time but at least one time every day.

It does not happen if I turn off the radio before stopping the engine, and of chourse turning the radio on manually after engine start again.

When this happen, I have to remove the connector at the back of the radio for some seconds and then insert it again. Then the radio starts up normally.

Hope anyone has a solution so I dont have to remember turning the radio manually off before stopping the engine.

regards tom

Sony contacted med by mail. They want me to send the radio to them so they can test it to find the reason.
