Sony La Scala TA-S2 Amplifier flashing red LED front panel

Hiya, can anyone please advise - the amp was powered up recently with the volume up a bit high, music came through for a second then cut out completely and now just have a flashing red LED above power switch. Looks like it has gone into protection mode but cannot find a way to reset - any idea please? With thanks, tobkhifi

Hi there and thankyou for your response to the question - we have managed to compare the faulty amp to a fully working amp now and found that the relay that sits at the rear that sits close to the power supply input is firing up but the secondary relay sat roughly in the middle of the amp isn't so now looking to swap that out to see if that might solve the issue, tobkhifi

What does the manual say? If you don't have a manual you may be able to download one online.

Have you unplugged it and let it sit for a few minutes or more, and then tried switching on again.

Make sure the amp is cool before powering on again.

Hiya and thanks for your message - we’ve tried powering down and unplugging etc but still no joy, the only manual we can seem to can find is the service manual rather than user manual, J

Hi @tobkhifi  and a belated welcome to the Community

From reading other posts elsewhere online about the same problem it seems there can be a variety of causes from something not being connected correctly such as a stray speaker wire causing a short, to another person taking it to a repair shop and finding out the relay had blown.

One suggestion that may help is to just connect one item at a time to the amp and see if the green light

comes on again. If so keep connecting others until the red light comes on again and then you may know more

about what is causing the problem.

Hope this helps
